Tasting

Intensive purple of a somewhat darker kind, subtle violet rim, eyebrow-lifting viscosity. Distinctive fragrance which leaves no doubt about the supremacy of this Blaufränkisch proponent. Wild cherry extravaganza, black tea, zests and cinnamon bark, additionally red peach and roasted nuts, well envelopped into fine wood. Dry, densely layered, displaying persistent spicy fruitiness, cool, smoky with cloves and curry. Intensively mineral type and pulpy, enormous long finish. Mirrors the assets of the winery´s oldest Blaufränkisch vineyards in a perfect way.

Pairing

Regina´s delicious „basic gravy“ to ox tail, a steak medium-rare directly from the producer and double-cut – together with a Bouquett salad. Accompanying hard cheese – 4 torque style. Kummelweck with pepper salami, with roasted venison liver sausage, instead of surf to turf. Roast wild boar – fom top to tail. And to treat yourself on otherwise boring days. Perfect for lonely champions.

Making

Hand-picked into small boxes, from the single vineyard Plachen where we own the only two totally chalk-free Blaufränkisch parcels – loam on weathered silicate, practically no need for selection, beginning of October 2013 with perfect parameters of ripeness.

Destemming, mash fermentation in closed stainless steel tanks at a temperature of approximately 30 °C (88 °F) for 14 days, followed by 4 more days of maceration, gentle pressing and maturation in 300 l barrels (approximately 50% new).
