Brilliant straw yellow, Williams Christ pear, Maschanzker apple, quince chilli. Close your eyes! All of a sudden a lush meadow with white and yellow flowers and a tree heavily loaded with greengages (Kriecherl) and even one with Topaz apples will appear in front or your mind’s eye. Spring meets autumn – in Rust – and nowhere else! Dry, vital, animating, complex acidity, hearty and balanced. Beautiful touch of buckthorn, some kaki, compact, delicate creamy texture. A result of the low yield which we regard with ambivalent feelings. No question, such a wine may definitely be described as highly elegant and highly interesting.
Crispy fried pike with savoury quince chutney. Bean strudel with marjoram sauce, endive salad with pumpkin seed oil, hard-boiled eggs and bacon. Enjoy with a power snack consisting of Mangalitza pork, fresh brown bread and matured Vacherin. Terrine of hare with pistachios and stewed pears. Home-made pommes with wasabi mayonnaise – for the very brave ones. Duck rilettes with thyme toast and much more… - the hit at any blind tasting of whites and ambitious “not-going-home” efforts.
